VISA Card Application System
The Challenge
The School Employees Credit Union of Washington (SECUWA) wanted
to offer its 65,000 members the ability to get VISA card approval
within four hours, and to be the first credit union to do so.
To achieve this, Database Republic needed to redesign SECUWA’s
application process and then customize BizFlow to
- integrate with a legacy financial system,
- link to a third-party source for nationwide credit history
data, and
- replace a homegrown “decline letter” mechanism.
The goal was to give SECUWA an automated, faster, more accurate,
and more trackable application system.
The Solution
Database Republic streamlined the application process and used
Wordforms to generate the decline letters. Once again, BizFlow
proved to be highly adaptable to business processing needs, although
its versatility now encountered two roadblocks. The first was
a customer business decision that allowed BizFlow to ‘read’
from but not ‘write’ to SECUWA’s financial database.
The second was outdated third-party technology that could not
interface with BizFlow. The result of both was that Database Republic’s
redesigned, automated process would still require manual intervention.
In the end, however, these two ‘problems’ led SECUWA
to rethink its data-security strategies and find modern third-party
technologies for the future.
Once these hurdles are cleared, SECUWA will make even better use
of BizFlow.
